Key
The key is that which unlocks the otherwise impassable golden doors. When in the player's inventory, the player simply needs to move into the door as they would with any other.
A golden door's key will be dropped by a monster that is on the same floor as the key. The key will most likely be held by a legend if the floor has legends on it.
Should the player lose a key somehow, it will return upon reentry of the same tier of the dungeon. The player does not need to gather keys to return to the surface or entrance of the dungeon. Instead, tiers that the player has passed will not have any golden doors in them.
The key can be found in the top left of the inventory screen; it does not take up an item slot, but instead has a unique slot above the Backpack, Spellbook, and Class Skills icons. If the player does not have the key, the inventory screen will only show a grey outline where the key should be.
Going through a golden door is the only way to destroy or use up a key. The key, according to the inventory screen, will stay in the player's inventory, even if a player goes up or down stairs, leaves the dungeon, uses a town portal, or goes to a different area, so long as the player doesn't use the key on a golden door.
